Tom, if you ever decide to get out of the firefighting early you will definitely have a writing career on your hands :)Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4321510785587370748.post-21672633109650104322008-05-18T00:35:00.000-04:002008-05-18T00:35:00.000-04:00Hi Tom,I have been watching the news and becoming ...Hi Tom,
I have been watching the news and becoming aggravated with the portrayal of firefighters as greedy. I know that you have a right to expect a decent days pay for a good days work. That is all ANY worker would expect. So. Why the balogney in the news? If a guy who sits at a typewriter expects to be treated honorably in negotiations why wouldn't you guys?
How ridiculous for the public to believe that you should expect any less.
The children in my "Grandma Muggle Club" in the Cranston elementary schools where I meet with them know that every firefighter is THEIR firefighter because, no matter where they might be, the local firefighter would be there for them at a moments notice to save them from a fire or to get them medical help in case of an accident.
Each Valentine's Day they make a giant card for the firefighters in some city. This year it was Cranston. Last year it was Providence. Next year who knows? They will vote for the fire department which gets their card of love and appreciation.
Isn't it too bad that the general public doesn't think to do the same? Wouldn't it be nice to get a "Thanks firefighter" from somebody once in a while?
So. Here it is Tom. Thanks firefighter. You do a great job and we all feel safer knowing that you guys and gals are out there for us.
Keep up the good work. Be well and stay safe.,

Fondly, Pat Blackman AKA Grandma Muggle.
(Erin's Mom.)Grandma Mugglehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16820156998896025391noreply@blogger.com
